Long court battle ends with victory for immigrants
LOS ANGELES – The 20-year effort to deport two men over their alleged political support of Palestinian self-determination officially came to an end today when the nation’s highest administrative body overseeing immigration cases dismissed all charges against Khader Hamide and Michel Shehadeh, members of a group of Palestinian student activists arrested in January 1987, who became known as the LA8.

Anglican Parish Disinvests from the Central Board of Finance over Caterpillar Shares
 

An Anglican parish has taken the radical decision to withdraw £140,000 from the Church of England's Central Board of Finance investment account.  The unanimous decision by Virginia Water PCC, in the Diocese of Guildford, was taken because the CBF has refused to implement a decision by the General Synod of the Church of England in February to heed the call from the sister church of Jerusalem and the Middle East and disinvest from companies such as Caterpillar which are profiting from Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine.

The U.S., still insisting Islamic charity worker has terror ties, fails to get court to block a judge's order to let him go after two years of detention.

In another setback for the U.S. government, a Buena Park man was released Monday from an immigration detention facility after being held more than two years for allegedly having ties to terrorism.
"No words can describe how I'm feeling right now," Abdel Jabbar Hamdan said shortly after 9:30 p.m. as he left the Terminal Island federal detention facility in San Pedro with his wife and five children. "I'm ecstatic."

Dozens of opponents of Egypt’s authoritarian government were assaulted and arrested after riot police attacked a demonstration in support of reformist judges who are challenging election fraud.
